The Taking Tree is a textual composition that signifies life and the never ending reality of higher powers. The trunk is made up of the story "The Giving Tree", a book many viewers know and have read. The leaves are created using different words that are repeated thousands of time. Each of these words have connotations of power in our lives; money, government, faith, family, etc. Each viewers perception on this concept is different yet most can relate each word to their own life. The tree's arm extends around and holds above the man, gathering all of the leaves that would have fallen down to him. It is a continuous cycle, we give and give and the powers we allow to control us, take and take.
